What Life is Really Like

In case you're curious, this is a lot what life on "the streets" is like for children in Uganda whose parents don't have money to send them to school. This young girl is carrying her sibling on her back so her mom can work in the market.

This photo was taken along the main highway with HEAVY traffic in Kampala. I count 10 young children there - the oldest not being much more than 8 or 9 years, responsible for all of them while their mothers are working. This is reality. It is everywhere.

Actions Speak Louder was originally created to partner with Shiloh, an orphanage in Jinja, Uganda, in hopes to prevent this from happening to as many kids as possible. For two years, we supported the children's home and provided support and relief. Our mission has evolved since 2018, but situations like this continue to exist. Our current focus has shifted to keeping families together through discipleship, business and vocational training, and offering micro loans and scholarships to people who complete their training, so they can provide for their families. That's why our mission is simple - meeting needs, offering hope!
